Cowtown 10K and a Yoda Moment

Cowtown 10K

A shirt and medal just for running a mere 6 miles.

Do you ever wonder if you’re trying too hard? Last weekend I participated in my first Cowtown race. That 10K got me to thinking. This week was one were laziness yields surprising results. First, without doing anything at all, I grew a prize-winning giant kohlrabi from seed. The plants I tend, on the other hand, seem to curl up and die.

Then without any training whatsoever (I am not kidding), I managed to not only run an entire 10K race but set a PR of 1 hour and 6 minutes. I’m not saying that last mile wasn’t awful, but I did it.

This was my first year running the Cowtown. The route was amazing, and being greeted by a Blue Bell truck at the end of the race was not too shabby. I also got a medal just for participating. I wish many of life’s menial tasks came with medals. Maybe 2012 is the year for taking it easy on yourself and being a bit lazy.
