Hi, I’m Elisha. One late night, I was driving frantically through parking lots in San Diego, Calif., trying to locate a restaurant that suited the crowd in my car. My brother wanted meat and potatoes. My sister in law did not care, but reminded us that we had a picky 2-year-old to feed. My friend Jamie, visiting from Florida, wanted something uniquely California. I just wanted a wholesome vegetarian meal that wasn’t a salad. Because I was driving, my needs were taking precedence. As time ticked away, hunger started to get the best of us, and my brother finally shouted, “You’re either a hunter or a gatherer, Elisha! Stop being a vegetarian so we can all eat.” Everyone in the car broke down laughing, but he was on to something. I’m definitely a gatherer.
In this blog, Washington Ave, I gather pieces of my life to share what I think happiness looks like—food, friends, photography, gardening, travel, and the written word. I’ve been an editor and writer for more than 10 years, but I’ve never had the opportunity to write about what I love. So, here’s to my life on Washington Ave in Fort Worth, Texas. Happy gathering!
